EFT TAPPING THERAPY

EFT Tapping - Emotional Freedom Techniques - Shreem Wellbeing

Helping You Heal From Emotional Stress, Overwhelm And Trauma
And It's Impact On Your Life, Health, Work, Finances And Relationships

What Is EFT Therapy (Emotional Freedom Techniques)?

EFT comes under the umbrella of Energy Psychology therapies, that work with the human energy system to help achieve physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. It is commonly known as psychological acupressure, emotional acupuncture (but without the needles!), EFT Tapping or just simply ‘Tapping’.

EFT brings together the traditional principles of Eastern Wisdom (in the form of acupressure and the meridian energy system) and modern Western psychology. And in doing so, it has the potential to activate the healing process by engaging many elements of the mind-body connection via the amygdala (the stress centre of the brain), the nervous system, the endocrine system and more. EFT is considered an effective way to work on limiting beliefs, old traumas, phobias, unwanted behaviour patterns and many other emotional, health and performance issues.

"EFT combines the physical benefits of acupuncture with the cognitive benefits of
conventional therapy for a much faster, more complete treatment of emotional issues,
and the physical and performance issues that often result"
- Gary Craig, EFT Founder

What Does EFT Involve?

Put simply, EFT involves tapping on specific meridian points (also known as acupressure points) on the body, primarily on the head and the face, in a particular sequence whilst the person focuses on the issue that they wish to treat.

EFT is “a universal healing tool that can provide impressive results for physical, emotional, and performance issues. EFT operates on the premise that no matter what part of your life needs improvement, there are unresolved emotional issues in the way. Even for physical issues, chronic pain, or diagnosed conditions, it is common knowledge that any kind of emotional stress can impede the natural healing potential of the human body.”
- Gary Craig, EFT Founder

Research has shown that emotional trauma can be a contributory factor to disease (dis-ease). The aim of EFT is to help restore the balance of energy within the body by safely processing and releasing emotional stress, thereby contributing to a person’s sense of mental, emotional, physical &/or spiritual wellbeing. This often leads to the client feeling less distressed, more focused and with a new found sense of inner peace. EFT is a complementary therapy, that is intended to be used alongside conventional medical treatment, not instead of.

A research study regarding EFT and stress hormones, by Dr. Dawson Church, was published in 2012 in the highly regarded Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease. The study found that EFT lowered cortisol significantly more than traditional talk therapy or resting. A 2020 replicated study by Dr. Peta Stapleton showed similar results, with a 43% decrease in cortisol levels, also known as the "stress hormone".

The number of EFT sessions required depend on the complexity of the presenting issue. One session may be enough for simple issues but more sessions may be required to thoroughly process more deep rooted concerns. EFT is a useful self help tool that anybody can use for themselves on a regular basis.

However, it often needs an experienced EFT Therapist to not only hold a safe and confidential space for their client, but to also skilfully navigate them through more deep rooted, complex issues that may be keeping them feeling stuck. If you think of the issue as a multi faceted diamond, each facet represents a different aspect of the issue that needs careful processing in a safe manner.

And that’s where I can help. I am a Certified Advanced EFT Practitioner who has been Accredited by EFT International (the world’s leading professional EFT association) after meeting their strict standards and competency requirements. I work as an EFT Therapist working with clients on all areas related to Life, Business and Wellbeing. As part of my continuing professional development I have also undertaken training to become a Trauma Informed Practitioner.

Surrogate EFT Tapping

If you are looking to help someone else other than yourself, and that person is unable to attend a session for any reason e.g. they are too young, too unwell or not able to be worked with directly, then please be reassured that it is still possible to help them. There are other options available that work just as effectively such as Surrogate EFT Tapping.

Surrogate EFT Tapping, also known as Proxy Tapping, is where both the EFT Therapist and the client work together in a session to help another person the client is concerned about. The client is the surrogate for the other person and taps on their behalf. Usually that other person is not physically present in the session.

For example, Surrogate EFT Tapping normally works very effectively with parents who want to help their children through the challenges that they are facing in school, or with their health or personal lives.

Surrogate EFT Tapping will work for anyone: from babies to the elderly and everyone in between. It also works well for pets too!

If something is concerning you, then give EFT a try, it may just help.
